Ian, Daniel and Cassie Visit us in Austin!

So I am just getting around to writing about when our wonderful friends came to visit us last weekend September 26th-29th. It was seriously a blast! It was so good to have our best friends here with us. We loved showing them all the fun things that were here in Austin that we have found. It was really hard though cause they were only here for three days, but I think that we got a lot done in that little bit of time:)

They were supposed to arrive on Thursday evening, but they ended up spending too much time in New Mexico and then drove three hours in the wrong direction. Ha ha so they ended up driving all night Thursday and showed up here in Austin at 8:00 am Friday. They were pretty tired (obviously) so they ended up passing out for a couple hours. When they woke up Derek and I (mostly Derek we all know my cooking skills) made Waffles for them.

Ian and Charlie missed each other and had a long reunion.

So First we Took them Downtown to do some shopping. Daniel met up with one of his friends from his old hometown Dallas named Ashley. ( the girl with the long brown hair in all the pictures)The First store we hit up the Vintage Guitar shop( of course) and Derek and Ian Couldn't get away. So I took the others to some vintage clothing stores. I ended up buying this dress from the 1940's that I fell in love with. I am currently now having buyers remorse though, come to find out that when I wear it i look like a girl scout. hmmm.... who knew? Oh well.

After hitting up the Vintage shops we took them to a toy store called " TOY JOY" that is full of ridiculous toys. We had so much fun taking pictures and goofing around.

Then We went down to "Congress Bridge" to see the bats fly out. While Waiting patiently on
e of the guys selling light sabers kept asking us what the word zinc meant. He was really into Daniels flute and attempted to play us a lovely song that sounded like dogs dying. Man he was Crazy! But really nice.
I tried to sneak a picture of him below, it didn't work too well but you at least get of glimpse of how awesome he was. Especially with Light saber fuh-face.

You can't see very well in this photo, but it's a picture of the bats flying out from under the bridge!

Later on that night we had a bit of trouble blowing up Ian and Cassies Air mattress. They forgot to bring a pump, so we came up with our own using a digery doo from grandma harris and a hair dryer. Who know digery doo's were so versatile ?

The next day we spent the entire day at Austin City Limits. It's a three day music festival Austin has every year with tons of good bands. We only bought a ticket for Saturday though:) There were so many people there it was nuts. It was people as far as the eye could see. We saw Jose Gonzalez, Drive by Truckers, Erykah Badu, Spiritualized, Rocky Erickson(who really sucked) and Beck. It was so Awesome!

Their last day in Austin we took them kayaking in
Lake Austin. It was so beautiful!

Then We took Them Dowtown To stubbs to see the
Black Angels and The Black keys play.

After the show we just walked around downtown
and showed them how crazy it was.
We had so much fun, and are so thankful that we
have such wonderful friends that would drive
so far to see us! It was well needed to see some
familiar faces for sure.
